My CFP® Certification Examination Results
The moment of truth has arrived. Did all the studying pay off? Was the Ken Zahn Live Review beneficial?

The July 2008 CFP® Exam pass rate was 54.3% nationally. We bucked the trend in our local study group; out of the six of us, all six passed for a 100% pass rate! Thank you, Ken Zahn, we couldn’t have done it without you.

Great job passing the exam! I’m taking the March 2010 exam. I took your advice and tried to create a study group (I used Meet Up) but I haven’t found any willing participants (victims?) yet. : )
I would be really interested in hearing more about your experience with specific study tools (like the Ken Zahn live review). I’ve created a site to talk about CFP exam study guides and classes like these (cfptalk.com). It would be great if you could share your experience there. Thanks!

Bill,
Thanks for taking the time to post about your experience with the Kaplan University On-line Certificate in Financial Planning.
I totally agree with your comments about the challenges of a 100% online study. Specifically the lack of a “community” of peers to provide encouragement and feedback on your progress. I know that some students used Meetup.org to try to start local study groups. I think the online programs would benefit by including forums.
One element that you described at the Kaplan program that seems different than the Boston University program is the access to instructors. The Boston program forwards your questions to a “tutor” that seems to respond mostly with canned text, though they respond very quickly.
