I read that results were posted online after they were mailed for July 2008 exams. Personally, I think that does not make sense. Anybody else waiting?

  2. Bill Winterberg January 15, 2009 8:39 am #

    UA,

Yes, it’s true, CFP Board waits about one week after the results are sent by first-class mail to post them to the website. It definitely adds to the agony of waiting!

  3. J Klein January 15, 2009 1:42 pm #

    Has anyone gotten their results?

  4. Tester January 15, 2009 4:16 pm #

    Bill,

I am not sure how you can say from that posting when it says they will be mailed this week and they will announce when it happens. I am waiting and think 8 full weeks plus mailing time is a bit much. Hopefully they go back to their old method of posting the results online at the same time as mailing the results.

  5. kbf January 16, 2009 9:04 am #

CFP put the results in the mail Thursday. I asked them when to expect the online posting, but all I got was a reply reiterating verbatim the vague message on the website — “An announcement will be posted at http://www.cfp.net when exam results are also made available through examinees’ online CFP Board accounts.” (Yes, that’s two passive verbs in one sentence!)

Does anyone have a better time estimate for the online results? If we all receive our results by snail mail before we can get them online, does that not defeat the purpose of even having them online?

After going through the entire CFA process and a good part of the CFP process as well, it’s apparent that the CFP Board is not even in the same league as the CFAI. I’d say CFP’s move from Denver to DC is very appropriate given their responsiveness and professionalism (or lack of both).

  6. Bill Winterberg January 16, 2009 9:34 am #

@Tester: You’re right, results weren’t placed in the mail until Thursday the 15th. I assumed that they went out when the announcement was made on the 13th that all the scores were ready. Thanks for the catch.

  7. UA January 16, 2009 2:36 pm #

Agree with other posters, putting online after mailing just adds more time. From the mailing date (Jan 15), I am guessing results will be posted online about Wednesday, Jan 21. The CFP Board office is closed on Monday and Tuesday next week.

  8. UA January 16, 2009 2:38 pm #

    No results for me yet.

  9. AF January 17, 2009 10:13 am #

It’s Sat Jan 17 and still waiting for mail. Hopefully we wont have to wait until Tuesday (Mon is a holiday).

  10. DE January 17, 2009 11:22 am #

Mail received in Dallas area. No exam results!!

  11. rlowl January 17, 2009 11:52 am #

I live in NJ and I recieved my results today.

  12. rlowl January 17, 2009 11:54 am #

I passed ! – good luck to everyone.

  13. Tester January 17, 2009 12:25 pm #

    Bill,

Sorry if I came off sounding to harsh on you. I appreciate your website and just have been a bit on edge lately.

  14. AF January 17, 2009 12:26 pm #

Nothing in NYC yet. I guess Tuesday is my day.

  15. Pissed off January 17, 2009 12:43 pm #

I can’t believe how slow they are to get us our scores. This whole process is rediculous.

  16. Tester January 17, 2009 2:08 pm #

It is going to be a long weekend and either a great or terrible start of the week…the pass rate was supposedly 55%

  17. Bill Winterberg January 17, 2009 2:46 pm #

@Tester: No worries, I totally understand your being on edge. I was there, too!

Thanks for the info on the November exam pass rate. The pass rate for the July exam was 54.3%.

  18. JB January 17, 2009 10:25 pm #

Received results today in Las Vegas, NV…I passed. Pass rate was 55.6%.

  19. kbf January 18, 2009 11:38 am #

No results yet for me in Minnesota. Since they’ve reached Nevada already and everybody posting here passed, I’m somewhat worried that the “congrats” letters were sent first and that I’m in the “tough luck” category. Perhaps not.

For those of us in the private sector, if we had a mailing to go out to 3000+ clients with a long holiday weekend looming, we’d probably plan ahead to make sure that we got that mailing out in time for everyone to receive it prior to the weekend. Not so for this quasi-governmental outfit (which I can only predict will get worse now that they are a part of the cozy, inefficient, bureaucratic club on DC’s K Street).

Those who didn’t get their letter yet and didn’t pass (of which I hope I’m not one) will now have 8 weekends to study instead of 9. That’s a pretty big deal, if you ask me.

  20. J Klein January 19, 2009 9:09 am #

I passed. 55.6% Pass Ratio. My friend, also in San Diego passed. We both recieved the results on Saturday. Large white enevelope.

  21. D Grant January 19, 2009 10:14 am #

Nothing rec’d in Chicago on Friday/Saturday – guess I’ll have to wait until tomorrow. Not knowing is better than knowing right now. I don’t even want to think of the intense studying I’ll have to go through again if I fail. Plus, if you pass, you’re held to a much higher standard – I’m happy not being held to any professional standard right now!

  22. UA January 20, 2009 7:16 am #

Feel like a shark lurking around the mail today. Hoping it came in on Saturday but did not. Preferred address is office, hope to get results today.

  23. B J January 20, 2009 8:17 am #

Still no results received in Illinois. Talk about keeping you in suspense! This whole process is a little rediculous. I’m starting to think that I will be one of the “lucky ones” to find out my results when they are posted online before I even receive them. Super excited. Thanks CFP Board!

  24. UA January 20, 2009 8:20 am #

BJ, me too. Mail does not drop until later today, in the meantime still lurking like a shark in the mailroom.

  25. UA January 20, 2009 10:22 am #

    Mail dropped, no results

  26. ccfp January 20, 2009 10:48 am #

Has anyone ever requested a hand score and got a reversal from pass to fail? Is it worth the $40?

  27. Chuck Rylant January 20, 2009 1:29 pm #

    I passed! What a relief.

I must give some credit to Ken Zahn. His program was a huge help in focusing my study on the right stuff.

I am also a bit annoyed that I did not get results until the 9th week. I do not understand why the scores were not posted online last week.

Good luck to the rest of you.

  28. UA January 20, 2009 1:40 pm #

Congrats Chuck! Great to hear you passed.

Scores are not posted online as the process in CFP board is to post them on the web site only after the snail mail letters have reached all recipients. I know, makes no sense to me either.

    No results for me yet.

  29. Julie January 20, 2009 2:56 pm #

no results for me yet either and I am in Florida. I hate this…my mind goes….did they send out the passes first and then send out the fails…that is why we don’t have results yet????

  30. Katie January 20, 2009 4:16 pm #

I got my results today (Michigan). I did not pass, so there must not be a pattern to the pass letters first and then the rest. Not a good day here :( Oh well! Gearing up to take it again in March. Any suggestions from the people who passed? Any programs that made you feel well prepared?

  31. Julie January 20, 2009 5:44 pm #

Katie…sorry to hear you didn’t pass. Ken Zahn teaches what I thought to be a really good cram class…I’ll let you know if it worked for me or not when I find out.

  32. UA January 21, 2009 5:43 am #

    @ ccfp

Hope you mean from fail to pass reversal. I would not pay $40 to get the reversal from pass to fail.

  33. Dustin January 21, 2009 6:49 am #

I live in GA, and I received my results late yesterday (Tuesday). I passed! I don’t understand how people on the west coast received their results on 01-17. So, I don’t believe that the pass letters were sent first. I’ve heard from others that didn’t pass that received results before I did.

    Best of luck to everyone!

  34. York January 21, 2009 7:45 am #

I live in Chicago,IL. Got the result on the inauguration day. I passed. Good luck to everyone!

  35. UA January 21, 2009 7:46 am #

    Dustin,

Congrats on passing! I do believe that people in the west coast got the benefit of air mail speed, while us on the east coast got the wonders of truck delivery and its slowness. Good to hear there is no pattern on pass/fail letter timing.

  36. UA January 21, 2009 9:11 am #

I am in FL, mail came and no results! I am going crazy now, this wait is killing me.

  37. Dustin January 21, 2009 11:08 am #

    UA,

I figured the great mail bird had swooped quickly from D.C., it’s just frustrating to know that someone 3,000 miles away received results before someone in GA only 600 mi away.

Wow, sorry for your extended wait. Best of luck and sanity!

  38. Nino January 21, 2009 11:25 am #

It’s hard to imagine what kind of first class mail they are using when they send out the results last Thursday and it’s Wednesday and it’s still not here! Granted, Monday was a holiday, but still.

  39. Nino January 21, 2009 11:26 am #

    …and I’m in Southern California

  40. Andy January 21, 2009 12:02 pm #

I live in Memphis and two other people on my floor received their scores yesterday. Of course mine and another colleague who works in the same building have yet to receive ours. Needless to say I’m not sleeping very well.

I called the Board and was somewhat rudely informed that they could only verify my mailing address (which was correct). So my guess is the envelopes are riding around on the floor of some mail truck, never to be seen again.

I wonder if they’ve ever heard of FedEx or UPS? Or would that make too much sense?

  41. Annoyed1 January 21, 2009 12:32 pm #

I’m in Nashville and have the same problem. I’m the only I person I know up here who has not received results. I guess I’ll call the lovely folks at the board as well.

  42. UA January 21, 2009 1:31 pm #

Andy and Annoyed1 – I feel your pain, I am still waiting too. On exam day, the proctors made me change my address in some form from my office address to my home address, to match my driver license to their records. However, the CFP board’s site still shows my office address as the preferred address, which is what I chose originally.

My guess is that they will post results on-line tomorrow. So hopefully we will all know tomorrow morning.

  43. Julie January 21, 2009 6:12 pm #

OK I thought for sure I would have the results today, Wednesday…they did not come again. This is totally wrong…I can’t believe they can do this to us. SW Florida

  44. SMc January 21, 2009 10:03 pm #

CO, just got mine today. Failed June 2008, took 9 weeks to the day to find out. Passed this one, found out 9 weeks to the day. It sucks that it takes 9 weeks instead of 6 now. Don’t be deterred. If you were above bar on 66% of the 89 topics, give it 100 more hours and take it in March. Then you can learn the secret CFP handshake. Or so I’ve heard.

  45. UA January 22, 2009 5:38 am #

To all who have not gotten results – let’s hope we get ours today

  46. UA January 22, 2009 5:42 am #

Just called the board today – no idea to time line of posting results on-line. Also, they will be nice enough to mail me my results. The address they had on record is correct. How lovely!

  47. Andy January 22, 2009 9:16 am #

Just got mine in this morning (passed!). Hopefully the rest of you that are waiting will get yours today as well. Good luck.

  48. UA January 22, 2009 9:29 am #

Well, I got my CFP board letter today and I passed! Apparently, I will get two letters as the board will mail me another one again, per my conversation with them today.

Hope everyone still waiting gets results today!

  49. UA January 22, 2009 9:29 am #

    Congrats Andy!

  50. scott January 22, 2009 10:18 am #

No results again today in Michigan. This is a bit ridiculous. My buddy in the same area got his on Saturday, yet they claim they were all mailed out on the same day. I find that very hard to believe.

  51. Nino January 22, 2009 12:05 pm #

ok, I just received my results (passed!). Get this…even though the Board sent the results to my correct address, the post office delivered it to the wrong address! Just another piece mail to them right? What’s a couple of restless nights anyway.

  52. julie January 22, 2009 1:23 pm #

well another day without results…..this is totally unbelievable.

  53. UA January 22, 2009 2:04 pm #

    Scott and Julie,

Letter had metered postage dated on 1.15.08 but maybe they were mailed in batches, hence the delays. I thought the CFP board will post results on-line today, maybe tomorrow.

    The wait got ridiculous indeed.

  54. Julie January 22, 2009 4:32 pm #

I called them and was given an e-mail to a gentleman at the CFP Board. They said he is taking care of all the problems with this mailing.
sounds like I am not the only one. I e-mailed him and of course no response today! With what we must pay to take the test I would have been willing to pitch in another $10 to get the results overnighted to me!!!! At least we would have had a tracking number to see where the hang up in the system is.

  55. UA January 23, 2009 4:12 am #

    Julie,

Results will be posted online today, per this announcement on login portion of CFP web site

“The login portion of the CFP.net website is not available at this time in preparation for the January 23rd release of the November 2008 CFP® Certification Examination Results.

    Thank you for your patience.”

You will get your results today. All the best.

  56. UA January 23, 2009 5:49 am #

Results are posted online at http://www.cfp.net – need to log in to view

  57. julie January 23, 2009 7:46 am #

Thank goodness they posted them! I passed! I am still upset about the wait.

  58. UA January 23, 2009 7:52 am #

    congrats Julie!

  59. BigA January 27, 2009 9:42 am #

I submitted my education and experience requirements in Dec 2007. The letter from the board indicates 20 business days (aka a month) of processing time. I called the Board to ask if this is 20 days from when they got it or 20 days from 15 January 2008 (the date on the letter they sent us). I was told, 15 January. You think the wait ends then. Nope. I was told that assuming those documents are in good order, then they will request a background check from FINRA/SEC which could take 4-6 weeks. So here is the time line. By 15 February you should know if your education/experience requirements are completed. Then around mid to late March you background check should be complete. Wow.. is that crazy or what? For those of you with your CFP, was the turnaround from exam pass notification this slow? Patience is a virture that I hate to harvest…

Very funny: no one has received their results yet, but the Rattiner Review website has what must be fake comments already posted about how the students passed and how great the review was!!! See
