November 2009 CFP® Certification Examination Results Update
Quite a few searches are being made right now for the results from the November 2009 CFP® Certification Examination.
Remember that CFP Board posts regular status updates to its website to inform examinees of the scoring process. Today, CFP Board released the following update:
Still curious on exactly how long it takes between taking the exam and receiving official certificaton? This post on FPPad, How Long Does it Take to Complete the CFP® Certification Process?, should clear up many questions.
In addition, CFP Board recorded their webinar on July 30, 2009 discussing the post CFP® Exam process and what examinees can expect while waiting for results. I’m including the YouTube video below for your convenience.

Per the cfp.net website, results are being sent out this week (week of Jan 11). Site doesn’t specify if they’ve already been sent or if they’re being sent later this week.

Called the CFP board today and they haven’t mailed the results yet. I asked them when they will be mailed and he did not answer. I don’t know why they are so secretive.

Has anyone gotten their results? I heard from another blog that they were mailed out but who knows.
January 14th, 2010 at 11:05 am
I haven’t received mine yet. Not getting my hopes up too much on receiving it before the weekend. Might have to just find out online when that time comes…..
January 14th, 2010 at 12:54 pm
No results for today, the website had its problems but within 20 hours of the posting online, most people had their results. This waiting all week is torture!

I called CFP and as of 3:30 CST 1/14/10 the results of the November 2009 exam have NOT been mailed. The person I spoke to said that as far as he knew, the results would be mailed Friday.
January 15th, 2010 at 11:04 am
That is disappointing! I was hoping to receive the results today!
January 15th, 2010 at 11:13 am
I received a postcard yesterday from Zahn advertising his review courses for the March exam. Please tell me he cannot know results before us and he mails these to all test takers. He would have gotten my name / address off of the CFP site

@Anon
Good work.

They have years of experience doing this, yet their exam communication and delivery of results seem to get WORSE every year, not better. Sigh. Every indication is that these people are a bit OCD and out of touch.
January 15th, 2010 at 4:57 pm
That is so annoying. So, I guess we are looking at not getting them before Tuesday?
January 15th, 2010 at 6:35 pm
Very funny: no one has received their results yet, but the Rattiner Review website has what must be fake comments already posted about how the students passed and how great the review was!!! See
http://www.jrfinancialgroup.com/student_comments.htm
January 16th, 2010 at 7:18 pm
JR group also has students who took and passed March2010!!! this is the same guy who publishes those books?

ANOTHER FAKE TESTIMONIAL, this time from Kaplan Schweser web site! I have to say I suspected they did this, but it is very disappointing. According to the Kaplan Schweser website:
http://www.schweser.com/cfp/epr/index.php
“I received my results last week and I passed. Thanks so much to your workbooks, flash cards, CDs, practice tests, and cases and the Live Review. All of that was what I needed to pass the exam.”
Jon P. Engebretson
Vice President and Senior Trust Administrator for a large U.S. financial services organization
January 18th, 2010 at 1:28 pm
FYI–That same testimonial has been on Kaplan’s website for AT LEAST A YEAR. It DOES NOT have anything to do with the November, 2009 exam rather it’s just a testimonial to promote their products.

Got my results today. Passed. Location = New York City. Thanks to Dalton Review and hard work. BTW – I am 25 years old.

Douglas,
Congratualtions! Did the letter say what the overall pass rate was?
January 19th, 2010 at 11:08 am
54.1% pass rate, that 3% below historical average I believe.
January 19th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
Just got my results – I PASSED! Good luck to everyone else!
January 19th, 2010 at 1:57 pm

January 19th, 2010 at 2:07 pm

January 19th, 2010 at 4:04 pm
Congrats to all that passed. Just received my results and PASSED- Chicago. I did Zahn review and flash cards. Good luck.
January 19th, 2010 at 4:07 pm
Passed! Providence, RI. Did Zahn review in Boston taught by Brett Danko. It was totally worth the money!
January 19th, 2010 at 5:44 pm
Passed! Springfield, MA. I did the Zahn review with Brett Danko as well!
January 19th, 2010 at 6:12 pm
PASSED! Overland Park, KS. I did the Kaplan exam prep.
January 19th, 2010 at 6:41 pm
Passed. San Francisco Bay Area. Did the Kaplan/Schweser exam prep.
January 19th, 2010 at 6:47 pm
Passed! California. I used Kaplan review…To Gnulad take it again because only 54% passed, but be aware of the drop in repeat test takers scores.
January 19th, 2010 at 6:49 pm
Passed! Lincoln NE. Used Kaplan/Schweser home study program. Good Luck everyone.
January 19th, 2010 at 7:47 pm
PASSED! I used the Keir 4 day live review (LOVED IT!)but failed the July exam using the Dalton online review (BORING). GNULAD….don’t give up, just take a good live review. I was very discouraged last time, but the live review with Keir made all the difference.
Live in OH, have an MBA in finance, but it is all about preparing for this specific exam.
January 19th, 2010 at 7:51 pm
GNULAD: I believe if your deficiencies marked are >2 or are significant vs. the pass trend line, you are goners. All of us are loyal to the review that got us through. My partner had 2 deficiencies and passed the last exam, with his trend line just slightly below the ‘pass’ trend line. That seemed to be the min acceptable. I missed last time because my tax and insurance points were noticeably (but not hugely) below the pass rates but the live review brought me up to speed on those test topics. They say most people don’t pass by about 5-10 questions. Hope that helps.

Trussville, Alabama
I passed! Used Dalton Education for the review course. They did an outstanding presentation. I used their test bank and kept working on the material until I could scored in the 98th percentile. I also found the flashcards to be of tremendous help. But most of all, I found that a lot of prayer did the most good.
January 20th, 2010 at 5:13 am
I passed! I am in NC. I used the Kaplan self study review materials. The online question bank (5000 questions) that came with that was the most beneficial for me. Congrats everyone who passed!!
January 20th, 2010 at 7:17 am
Passed. Cleveland, Ohio. I used the College for Financial Planning review books. I was ahead of the pass group in every section and received no deficiencies. I would recommend these books to any professional wishing to take the exam.
January 20th, 2010 at 12:12 pm
Passed. Did the online Kaplan Review.
January 20th, 2010 at 12:21 pm
Passed in Phoenix, AZ using Zahn review. I was scheduled to take the March ’09 exam but had to reschedule due to a death in the family. At that time I was using Keir review materials. I switched to Zahn for the November exam and I feel it had me be better prepared than I would have been in March.

Anybody know how to put the CFP designation on your Linkedin profile?
January 21st, 2010 at 10:47 am
John:
I’m not sure how to put the designation on LinkedIn but remember you can’t use the designation until they’ve approved your work experience and education. Per their website, they seem to be quite adamant about that.
