Is iPhone Security Adequate for Financial Advisers?
Here’s a quick update to share an article I recently discovered concerning security of data on iPhones.
While this article is directed to lawyers, it is directly applicable to financial advisers who use iPhones to access information about clients.
But don’t the iPhone 3G’s encryption and unlock code features protect data from nefarious characters? No they don’t, according to Sharon D. Nelson, Esq. and John W. Simek of Sensei Enterprises, Inc.

Bill,
After reading this article I am hopeful that Apple will respond with a seriously reworked iPhone software update that will eliminate the security issues as outlined. The implications of their security loopholes is NOT limited to lawyers & financial advisors. How about the medical industry (HIPPA requirements)? I for one certainly don’t want any of my medical, financial, legal, SS etc info potentially exposed. The iPhone has gone from near the top of my desired list to the bottom. I will be recommending to my iPhone user that he be very cautious as to how he uses his phone. Thanks for spreading the word on this potentially dangerous device.
Regards,
