I think the point is if you have to be somewhere and WANT to be available. I am with you though, there are times I would prefer a voicemail so as not to disrupt serving another client.
Bill, Have you or anyone compared Grasshopper to RingCentral at all? Curious to see what you find out.

I haven’t yet performed a deep dive into RingCentral, but I imagine both RingCentral and Grasshopper work in similar ways. They may vary slightly on price and a few features, but the important things like auto forwarding and caller announcements are standard.

You are absolutely right, services like Grasshopper give the advisor the choice of taking a call or sending to voicemail. If clients only have an advisor’s office number, then the advisor can only receive client calls from the office desk. Where’s the flexibility in that?
We’ve been using a combination of Google Voice and Phone Booth for over a year now. Phone Booth allows for a customized menu system that’s a little clunky to set up, but once its up and working, doesn’t require much maintenance.
