Get the Buzz on Twitscoop

Twitscoop LogoI often come across times when I want some real-time insight on a topic that’s garnering tremendous interest.  The recent volatility of the stock market certainly has created widespread concern.  Today is no different as the global stock markets are reacting negatively to the proposed bailout legislation (I could link an AP news article here, but I’m afraid the context will be obsolete tomorrow!).

But what specifically are people talking about?

Enter Twitscoop, a service that crawls through millions of tweet messages on Twitter and highlights keywords that appear frequently across all those tweets.  Twitscoop displays the results in a tag cloud, emphasising terms that come up very often in large text with other terms in smaller text.

Here is a screen shot that I captured earlier today so I could get a sense of what people were entering on Twitter:

As you can see, users on Twitter are messaging about the Dow and how the $700 billion bailout bill is failing to pass the House of Representatives.  Some folks are also tweeting about a crash, panic, and depression.

Want to see detailed messages about a word?  Just click on it to see the last 20 or so tweets containing that word.  Click on Pelosi to see what people are saying.

Finally, here are my thoughts on Twitter and a link to my Twitter profile and recent tweets.
