Updates will be rather sparse for the rest of the week, both to FPPad and to Twitter.
Bulk Trading
So far for the week, I’ve coordinated a bulk trading effort at our firm to capture losses in taxable accounts where we can execute orders across the entire book of business. We have multiple custodians, so I’ve had to build some flexibility in the trading techniques to ensure compatibility with the custodians’ preferences. Still, we’ll be executing almost 20% of last year’s annual trading volume in just a day. Not bad considering we don’t have the luxury of Tamarac or iRebal.
Tax Training
Then on Wednesday, I’ll be off to Southwest Portland to attend instructor training for the AARP Tax-Aide program of Oregon. Training will continue through Friday morning, but I’ll benefit from the updates regarding both Federal and State tax law changes for 2008.
Career Planning
Finally, I submitted an updated resume to Victor Garza, the career development director of the FPA of DFW Career Day to be held on January 30, 2009. With the amount of exposure I’ve had to financial planning software and tools, I struggled to condense everything into one page. Alas, I decided to keep the two page format, as it better identifies my experience managing operations, streamlining processes, and volunteering through the FPA and AARP Tax-Aide.
If you own a firm in the Dallas, TX area and are looking for an experienced operations professional for your organization, or you’re an employee that needs someone to figure out how to simplify forms, portfolio reconciliation, and trading, email me at bill [AT] fppad [DOT] com. I’d be happy to provide a copy of my resume for you.
Have a great end to the week!
